The first golf in Henderson County was played at Connemara Farms that would become the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site. Carl was no slouch at the game either, having helped teach Mark McCormack, Arnold Palmer's long-time friend and agent, the game. The first annual The Carl Sandburg Heritage Golf Tournament at Kenmure Country Club is not "heritage" in name only. There will be on-course competitions that will give every golfer a chance to play with replica hickory clubs and golf balls just like those used by Carl Sandburg. And a "Best Dressed" competition for those who want to come play in period dress. All golfers welcome - the field is limited to 72 players.
